It depends on the size of the rabbit is in adults. I use 24 "by 24" cage with almost all of my rabbits.

and the latter is easier to clean
get the biggest cage you can afford ... bigger is better
You should never be the minimum size of the cage. The bigger the better! trying to buy a larger cage, the rabbit will feel less stress and more secure!
